📍 Geelong's Multicultural Community Voice

About

about emerge magazine

Emerge Magazine is a local multicultural media outlet dedicated to informing, uplifting and connecting African communities in Geelong, while also engaging broader culturally diverse groups as secondary audiences. Since transitioning from Emerging Brand Africa in 2021, Emerge has focused on producing community-centred content that supports social cohesion, participation, and access to reliable information.

We publish culturally relevant features, policy and government updates, diaspora news, and community-led storytelling that strengthens understanding, belonging and representation for African-heritage audiences. Our platform highlights women’s leadership, youth voices, enterprise, culture and community initiatives—reflecting the aspirations, challenges and contributions of our local communities.

Our Mission

  • Leadership & Community Voice: Profiling local leaders, community organisers, changemakers and emerging talent across Geelong’s African communities.

  • Information Access: Providing clear and accessible updates on policy changes, civic processes, services, and issues that affect multicultural communities.

  • Culture & Connection: Sharing stories, heritage, arts and diaspora perspectives that strengthen cultural identity and social cohesion.

  • Enterprise & Opportunities: Showcasing local businesses, career pathways, education opportunities and community initiatives.

Our Community

Emerge serves African communities across Geelong as our primary audience, while providing inclusive content relevant to wider multicultural groups, institutions and partners. Our readers include families, women, young people, students, community organisations and local leaders who rely on us for trusted, community-informed information.
