Claire Valarie’s path from the tropical shores of Mauritius to Melbourne’s bustling design scene is a story of cultural adaptation, professional growth, and social advocacy.
After completing her studies in Early Childhood Education and Care in Mauritius, Claire discovered her true passion lay in design. Moving to Australia opened new opportunities, leading her to complete a Master of Interior Architecture and establish herself as an interior architect in Darwin.

Claire’s book, “The Silence of a Mauritanian Student,” showcased at a gallery in Darwin, explores themes of identity, cultural adaptation, and finding one’s voice in a new country. The work earned recognition at the 2021 Country to Couture national indigenous fashion show in Darwin.
Her advocacy work focuses on empowering young women to embrace their cultural identity while adapting to new environments. Claire believes in the power of education and cultural exchange to break down barriers and create opportunities.
